Finished Size
7 x 16 inches
Materials
- 7 x 32 inches nonwoven fabric
- 2 sets (2 3/4-inch inside diameter) plastic drapery grommets
- 4-pound handheld sledge hammer and 2 (6-inch) square wooden boards (to set grommets)
- Basic sewing supplies and equipment
Instructions |
| 1. |
Place a grommet at each end of fabric, centered side to side and 1 inch from end. (Figure 1). Trace inside each grommet; cut out center fabric on traced line.
|
| 2. |
Working on the floor or a very sturdy surface, place large grommet half, wrong side up, centered on one wooden board. With fabric facing right side up, gently stretch opening cut in step 1 over grommet and around lip into outside ridge. Place remaining small grommet half, wrong side down, centered over the assembly. |
| 3. |
Gently rest the second board over the assembly. Using the sledge hammer, swing one hard blow to the center of the board to snap the grommet halves into place, pinching the fabric between the halves. Repeat for the second grommet set. |
| 4. |
With wrong sides of the fabric and grommets facing, fold fabric in half crosswise (Figure 2). With all cut edges even, pin long sides together. Topstitch sides, stopping 6 inches from fold at bottom. Secure threads.
|
| 5. |
To use, insert wine bottle through opening at side edge. |
